2021 Summer Recital Series.

In 2021 we are pleased to offer our first summer organ recital series. Nine organists have joined with Kelvin Smith to provide a free recital for each Saturday from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. These will be performed on the four-manual, 83 rank pipe organ in the recital hall attached to the residence of Kelvin Smith.

Neil Harmon teaches on the music faculty at Brigham Young University and is a well-known composer of organ music.

Shelby Fisher received a Masters in Music at the University of Utah and is the music director and organist at Christ United Methodist Church in Salt Lake City.

Valerie Harris is currently working towards a doctorate degree in organ performance at Arizona State University. She is a guest organist at Temple Square and has performed in Europe.

Alysha Hansen Osterhout is studying organ at Brigham Young University-Idaho.

Andrew Fellows is a student of Neil Harmon and was the Organ Scholar at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City.

Chad Staten is a professional airline pilot. He is one of the guest organists for the daily recitals at Temple Square.

Kenyon and Dorothy Smith are Kelvin Smith's son and daughter-in-law. Dorothy earned a degree in Music at Utah State University. Kenyon learned to play at a young age and works at Space Dynamics Laboratory building satellites.

Kelvin Smith earned a Master's Degree in Organ Performance from BYU and is a guest organist at Temple Square. He built the recital hall and organ attached to his home where these recitals are held.
